Michael was a featured speaker at Origins: Heritage of Italian Design, an event examining legacy, heritage, and Italian design organized by Archiproducts at the Consulate General of Italy in New York. Moderated by Gabriel Zangari of Salotto NYC, the conversation also brought together architect Matthew Grzywinski, along with Gabriele Salvatori, Pasquale Junior Natuzzi, Eleonore Cavalli, and Laura Anzani, representing families behind Salvatori, Natuzzi, Visionnaire, and Poliform.
Michael shared our studio’s deep and ongoing interest and engagement with Italian architecture and design, from the postwar period, when craft traditions were transformed by modern manufacturing, to the present. He also spoke about how our work seeks to weave together diverse histories and traditions into thoughtful, cohesive wholes, and about the importance of bringing forward the contributions of women and others whose roles in shaping these legacies have often gone under-recognized.
