The Children’s Library at Concourse House was honored with the 2019 NYCxDesign award in the Greater Good category, from Interior Design Magazine and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF). Now in its fourth year, the NYCxDesign awards celebrate the best design work done in New York City, and by New York City architects, designers, and manufacturers.
Established in 1991, Concourse House serves women with young children who are transitioning out of homelessness, and provides transitional housing coupled with a range of social and employment services. The Children’s Library is a new space at the shelter, dedicated specifically to reading, exploration, and imagination. MKCA provided all design services on a pro-bono basis, and sourced in-kind donations from fabricators, manufacturers, and other designers in service to the project.
