Pratt Institute Architecture Library

The Reading Room is a branch library for Architecture and Planning students housed within Pratt Institute’s School of Architecture’s Higgins Hall. Conceived as an intensively multi-functional space, the Reading Room is at once a library for students, faculty, and the larger Pratt community, as well as a reception space in the lobby of the architecture school’s Steven Holl-designed building.

The space of the library houses a seminar room and pinup space, and hosts events, requiring variable levels of control and transformation of the space. With our extensive experience integration motion and transformability and familiarity with a wide range of fabrication methods, MKCA was uniquely qualified to develop the library from concept through completion.

In progress, with anticipated completion in 2019.

Design studies and variations. Stay tuned for final images as the project develops.
